‘Bhoorbhuvah svah!’ ‘The Existence! The Consciousness! The Bliss!’
DSM Satyarthi
The Gayatri mantr is:
‘Bhoorbhuvah svah!
tatsaviturvarenyam, Bhargo devasy’ dheemahi,
DHIYO YO NAH PRACHODAYAT.’
‘(Vow:) The Existence! The Consciousness! The Bliss! We meditate on that Creator, worthy to be chosen, Pure, Divine, Who guide our wisdoms.’
-Ved 2 Yajurved: 36|3
Eishan Param Brahm Paramatma has infinite names.
Even in Ved He Himself tells us:
‘S’ paryyagaachchhukramakaayamavran’amasnaaviragvong shuddhamapaapviddham.
Kavirmaneeshee paribhooh svayambhooryaathaatathyato’
arthaanvyadadhaachchhaashvatee bhyah samaabhyah.’
‘He has been attained from everywhere–
Bright, Bodiless, Woundless, Sinewless, the Pure that evil hasn’t pierced.
Intelligent, Analyzer, Omnipresent, Self existent, has constituted aims, ACCORDING TO FACTS,unto everlasting subjects/ years.’
–Ved 2Yajurved: 40|8
In this Mantr, Eishan Param Brahm Paramatma Himself has told us His eleven attributes:
1. He has been attained from everywhere.
It confirms another earlier revealed Ved Mantr:
‘Ekam sadvipra bahudha vadanti’
‘The intelligent Ones call One Existence, in many ways.’
Ved:1RV|1|164|46
This Mantr confirms that from EVERYWHERE, He has been attained.
None missed Him.
It forms, thus, the religious democracy, Hindus practice.
2.’Shukram’Bright. He is not darkness, and doesn’t contain anything dark.
3.’Akaayam’ Bodiless. He hasn’t any body whatsoever, neither He needs it.
4.’Avran’am’ Woundless. No body, no wound; it’s self explicit.
5.’Asnaaviram’ Sinewless. No human weaknesses at all.
6.’Shuddham’Pure. Nothing impure in Him.
7.’Apaapviddham’ that evil hasn’t pierced. A great expression, MATCHLESS. Not found anywhere else.
8.’Kavih’ Intelligent. His work is not foolish or childish.
9.’Maneeshee’ Analyzer. He is quite capable to analyze everything before constituting about it.
10.’Paribhooh’ Omnipresent. His constitution cannot be confined to any single place or time.
11.’Svayambhooh’ Self Existent. He is not dependent on anyone even for His Existence.
These ELEVEN qualities make Him perfectly capable for constituting for every person what He did constitute as Ved.
Yet, in Gayatri Mantr, He does not take the vow from us to remember any of these eleven attributes.
In Hinduism, this Mantr is called MoolMantr, Mahamantr, Mantrraj, etc.
Yet, none of the eleven attributes is considered worthy to be mentioned here.
We can’t say any of these eleven attributes are not important, or less important.
Yet,Eishan Param Brahm Paramatma mentions three altogether different attributes to be remembered here in Gayatri Mantr.
‘Bhoorbhuvah svah!’
‘The Existence! The Consciousness! The Bliss!’
It’s also translated in Sanskr’t as ‘SAT CHIT ANAND’.
Why these three particular attributes?
Why not three from those eleven attributes, which are important to constitute Ved even?
Because these three attributes are related to humankind MORE.
Observe the eleven attributes again:
’1. S’ paryyagaat’ He has been attained from everywhere.
None missed Him.
2.’Shukram’Bright. He is not darkness, and doesn’t contain anything dark.
3.’Akaayam’Bodiless. He hasn’t any body whatsoever, neither He needs it.
4.’Avran’am’Woundless.
None of these are transferred to us humankind.
These are His attributes, NOT OURS.
But,’Bhoorbhuvah svah!’
‘The Existence! The Consciousness! The Bliss!’ are related to us humankind TOO.
We want to exist.
We want to have consciousness.
We want to have bliss.
So, Eishan Param Brahm Paramatma has told us that:
If we want to exist,
if we want to have consciousness,
if we want to have bliss–
WE SHOULD/MUST MEDITATE ON OUR CREATOR.
He is the Absolute Existence: ‘Bhooh’.
He is the Absolute Consciousness: ‘Bhuvah’.
He is the Absolute Bliss: ‘Svah’.
