‘FEW SCIENTIFIC ERRORS IN HINDU SCRIPTURES
1.“He who fixed firm the earth that staggered, and set at rest the agitated mountains, who measured out the air’s wide middle region and gave the heaven support, he men is Indra.” Rig Ved: 2: 12: 2. We all know today that the earth revolves and rotates and is not fixed.’
http://www.topix.com/forum/religion/hindu/TTF…

The original text is:
‘Yah pr’thiveem vyathmaanaamadr’nhadyah
parvataan prakupitaan aramn’aat,
yo antarixam vimame vareeyo yo dyaamastabhnaat s’ janaas! indrah.’

‘Who strengthened frustrated earth, who played with the angry mountains, who made space especially worthy to be chosen, who consolidated celestials, people! he is indr/controller of organs.’
Ved: 1 R’gved: 2|12|2

“He who fixed firm the earth that staggered’ is wrong translation.
The original text is:
‘Yah pr’thiveem vyathmaanaamadr’nhat’
pr’thiveem vyathmaanaam’can’t be translated ‘the earth that staggered’
‘vyathmaanaam’ does not mean ‘staggered’.
It means ‘frustrated’.
It is clear from the text itself that the expression is figurative, used as a figure of speech, not in its literal meaning.

Similarly,‘adr’nhat’ cannot be translated ‘fixed firm’, it must be translated ‘strengthened’.
Your translation of the original text is profoundly wrong.
Erroneous translation leads you to erroneous conclusions.
Ved is not responsible for your erroneous translations.
Ved is not revealed in English.
It is revealed in Vedic Sanskr’t: http://en.wikipedia.o rg/wiki/Vedic_Sanskrit
http://titus.uni-frankfurt.de/indexe.htm…

It is necessary, therefore, that a person must have PROFOUND KNOWLEDGE of Vedic Sanskr’t, the language, in which the Ved is revealed and still safeguarded, to understand Ved properly.
